Friends of Newman Golf Course

Friends of Neman Golf Course is a nonprofit group dedicated to the preservation, enhancement and promotion of the Newman Municipal Golf Course.

Newman Municipal Golf Course is a beautiful nine-hole golf course located in Ithaca, New York. Located on the Inlet, adjacent to Stewart Park, the course provides gorgeous views of Cayuga Lake and the surrounding hills, including Cornell and Ithaca College campuses. It is also well known as having some of the best maintained greens in Tompkins County and with four different tees, is playable as an 18 hole course as well. Newman caters to golfers of all ages and skill levels. It hosts a Men’s League, two Senior Men’s Leagues and two Women’s Leagues each week and currently has over 100 Junior Members (golfers under the age of 17).

Being a municipal course comes with its own unique challenges. Finding the funds and resources for proper maintenance and improvements can be difficult. Friends of Newman is dedicated to helping bridge some of these funding gaps and keeping Newman open and available to golfers from all over Tompkins County and beyond.

Currently, Friends of Newman is working on raising funds to help with replacing the ageing irrigation system, as well as other smaller projects.
